UX Agency for Complex Digital Products

About UI Design

Splore is a specialized UX boutique consulting firm for complex digital products, with a focus on Medical Technology, HealthTech, B2B software, and HMI systems. The core: identifying user needs and requirements and translating them into innovative product solutions, not as surface design, but as a strategic lever that makes tomorrow's products experienceable today.

What distinguishes Splore from a digital agency is the approach. Digital agencies often come from branding and deliver visually compelling solutions, which do not always ensure that they meet the actual needs of the users. Splore places the user-centered design process at the center: first understanding what people need who work with the product daily, then developing the right solution for it.

Splore works directly with clients' product teams and accompanies the entire UX process: UX Research, UX Prototyping, UI Design & Systems and UX Consulting. The entry point is a non-binding initial consultation.

People at the Center

Behind every digital product are people who use it daily. Doctors making clinical decisions under time pressure. Plant operators controlling complex production lines. Researchers analyzing sensitive health data. When these people work with a system that does not understand their processes, technology becomes a hurdle instead of a help.

Splore exists because of the conviction that products must start with people. Not with technology and not with the feature list. Human-centeredness is not a method applied at the end of a development process. It is the attitude from which everything else arises: the right questions, the right priorities, the right solutions.

What Splore Stands For

Splore is a UX boutique consulting firm for complex digital products. This work follows a clear logic that can be described in three levels.

At the beginning is the question: What do the people who work with this product need? Not what the requirements specification says or what the last stakeholder meeting decided, but what challenges and unspoken needs exist in the real work context, observed and questioned, not assumed. Splore helps companies find out exactly that through UX Research and human-centered design.

From the understood arise solutions that did not exist before: an experiential concept instead of a list of requirements, as a prototype, as an interaction concept, or as a visual target image.

Both contribute to the question that ultimately matters: What differentiates the company in the market? Better products ensure business success, and UX is not an execution step but an innovation tool. Or in short, as Jona Rammler puts it: “We create customer value to create business value.”

A special place is occupied by medicine, and this is not a market decision: “Our heart is in it, and it is a joy to advance complex health topics.” This drive determines which projects Splore takes on and with what depth they are worked on.

Why Splore: What Makes the Difference

The question of why companies work with Splore has a simple answer: Because here lies the competence to turn complex issues into functioning products. In detail, this involves four things.

The core of differentiation is not knowing an industry. Domain knowledge is added, but it is not the first priority. The core is knowing which process and method lead to the goal and how insights are translated into concrete design solutions. More than 10 years of experience in applying this process means: Splore has the recipe. What is never missing is the method, but always the specific context of the client. Unlocking exactly this context is the actual work.

What this looks like is shown by a project that ran for over nine months. It began with two rounds of user research: site visits in the real work environment and remote interviews to understand processes, users, and their needs. Based on this, initial solution approaches were developed, tested, and further developed in a second round together with the users. In the end, there was a concept that was not based on assumptions but on what people on site actually need.

Many agencies can either research well or design well. The actual performance lies in between: UX Research and strategy to recognize the right questions, and UX Design to translate them into concrete artifacts. This transfer determines whether insights become products. The effect of this connection: experiential solutions are created that are visible and thus discussable for management and development. Not slides and recommendations, but tangible drafts on which decisions can be based.

This results in what Splore offers as UX Product Vision: UX as an innovation tool that advances decisions because it makes tomorrow's solutions experienceable today. Questions about the requirements of future portfolios and products are not answered by market studies, but by experiential concepts that show what is possible. Strategic significance does not arise from the industry, but from the strategic use of design methods.

Once the strategic direction is clear, Splore also works in operational implementation: as UX / Digital Product Design in the development team — UX Prototyping, UI Design & Systems, UX Consulting. Not as an external service provider delivering a result, but as part of product development.

How Splore Works: The Small Team as a Difference

What does it mean to work with a boutique consulting firm instead of a large consultancy or a generic digital agency?

It means that the people responsible for your project make themselves experts in your context. Not a team that rotates after two weeks, but people who want to understand how your world works. Who travel the world to experience on-site where your users work. Who conduct interviews with the people who do their work there daily. Who work together on concepts for weeks, iterate, discard, rethink. And who ultimately stand before top management and carry the messages into the company that have emerged from this depth.

That is the difference from an agency that takes a briefing and delivers a result. It is also the difference from a large consultancy where senior expertise is present in the pitch but not in the project. At Splore, you work directly with the founder and a team assembled for each endeavor: short decision paths, a quality standard measured by the impact on the user.

Splore functions as a platform: For each endeavor, the appropriate constellation is assembled from core competencies and a network of specialized colleagues from UX/UI design, strategy, innovation, and technology. Additionally, Splore works on a project basis with partner consultancies, such as Kite.Design in the area of user research. The team works distributed from Hamburg, Munich, and Berlin, project-based on-site with clients in the DACH region and internationally.

Focus on Complex Software and Systems: B2B UX Agency

Splore works where workflows are demanding and software is supposed to help the people who deal with it daily. It is about professional applications, not consumer products: systems in which professionals make decisions, control plants, or analyze sensitive data. Four focuses:

Medical Technology — UX for clinical systems, medical devices, and software in medical technology. In this field, design determines efficiency in everyday care. Clear information hierarchies, secure workflows, and validated operating concepts are prerequisites. Splore works in medical technology, among others, in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers.

HealthTech — UX for digital health applications, patient portals, and monitoring platforms. HealthTech companies face the challenge of making technological value efficiently and distinctively usable for their target group. Splore accompanies here, among others, Honic, a startup that makes German medical care data digitally sovereignly accessible for research.

HMI Design — UX for industrial human-machine interfaces, also in pharma and life sciences, where Novartis is among the clients. Operating concepts that make complex production plants controllable, supported by new information architectures and consistent interface design. Krones, the world market leader for beverage production plants, works with Splore on the Connected HMI as a web UI, offering operating personnel a consistent user experience: from the individual machine to the connected production line.

Complex B2B Software — Professional software platforms where workflows run across multiple roles, systems, and process steps. Previous projects come from industries such as mechanical engineering, logistics, insurance, and energy. Experts work many hours daily in these systems. Every friction in operation multiplies over hundreds of users. UX consulting for B2B software means developing information architectures and interaction concepts that support these experts in their daily work.

Services at a Glance

Splore operates in two fields of action. The UX Product Vision clarifies WHICH product should be created: strategic target image development that provides orientation for development, stakeholders, and investors. UX / Digital Product Design answers HOW the implementation looks: operational UX work in the development team. Both can be commissioned independently or combined as a cohesive program. All details can be found on the Services Overview and the respective service pages.

Below are the three services that Splore accompanies along the entire UX process:

Insights from the field: user interviews, context analyses, and validation studies that base product decisions on an empirical foundation instead of assumptions.

From concept to testable prototype: interaction design and prototyping that makes ideas tangible and testable as a basis for decisions for teams, stakeholders, and development.

Visual design and design systems: component libraries, design guidelines, and design tokens that ensure consistency across products and platforms.

How a Collaboration Begins

It starts with a non-binding initial consultation. It is not about submitting an offer, but about understanding: What is the starting point? What problem needs to be solved? What are the conditions? From this conversation, it becomes clear whether a strategic positioning with the UX Product Vision is the right entry or whether operational implementation in the development team with UX / Digital Product Design offers the greater leverage. The transition to project work is seamless: Splore works from the beginning as part of your team.
